Pokemon Go dominates the news headlines ahead of E3 2017
Pokemon Go has dominated the news headlines this week, as Niantic announces plans to launch a series of updates and events to mark its first year anniversary.
It all begins with a , which kicks off on June 13, and runs until June 20.
The in-game event will feature an abundance of Fire-type and Ice-type Pokemon, as well as XP bonuses for throwing Poke Balls accurately.
Furthermore,  players will receive discounted Lucky eggs from the in-game shop.
The event will be followed by an update that introduces group-based gameplay features, which is likely to be the Raids and Legendary Pokemon update that has been rumoured.
Niantic is then planning a huge Pokemon Go festival in Chicago.
Tickets for the Pokemon GO Fest Chicago will be available from the festival website Monday, June 19 at 10am PT. That's 6pm for any UK fans hoping to make the long journey across the pond.
European fans can expect local events throughout the summer, so stay tuned for more information.

Pokemon Go will be one of the first apps to embrace Apple's new AR augmented reality technology.
Apple revealed its new ARKit AR technology during this week's WWDC keynote in the US.
The technology will use faster and more stable motion tracking to improve AR apps on iPhone and iPad. Users can also expect improved lighting and scaling effects.
Once the ARKit update goes live, Pokemon will be more grounded and cast realistic shadows.
"Apple is introducing a new platform for developers to help them bring high-quality AR experiences to iPhone and iPad using the built-in camera, powerful processors and motion sensors in iOS devices," reads an Apple statement.
There's no release date, but fans can expect the update to drop alongside iOS 11 this autumn.
