Final Fantasy XIV Previews Pokemon Go-Style App for April Fool's

Square Enix’s April Fool’s joke for Final Fantasy XIV lets players get out from behind their TVs and monitors and farm resources out in the real world with Final Fantasy XIV Online GO.
Despite how much some Final Fantasy XIV players might wish it were real, Square Enix isn’t actually adding a Pokemon Go crossover app, so you’ll have to stick to the indoors when gathering your fish and other resources. Square Enix says that the Final Fantasy XIV Online GO app would allow players to collect resources in the real world by traveling to certain locations marked by the app where trees, rocks, and other objects can be beaten down.
Whether it seems like a smart idea to keep players connected to the game at all times or an easy way to smash your phone against a tree, Square Enix deserves props for going all out with the production of this prank. A website was created entirely for the joke with the app’s trailer, a description of the app, and some screenshots that show what it would look like on a user’s phone.
“FINAL FANTASY XIV Online GO brings the thrilling experience of gathering to wherever you are, transforming your location into a literal hub of gathering nodes,” the description of the app reads. “With the unique combination of Square Enix’s cutting-edge software and your smartphone geolocation capabilities, you can harvest in-game resources outdoors, in the real world.”
For those who want to take their resource harvesting to the next level at the expense of their mobile devices, the new app would also have you covered with an optional tool called the Harvesting Stick. It’s essentially a selfie stick, but you can bet it’d take your resource gathering game to new heights.
“We are also working with a Japanese design company who have created a state of the art accessory for GO which we are calling the Final Fantasy XIV Online GO Harvesting Stick,” the video joked.
0commentsThis Harvesting Stick is not just a plastic stick, the joke continued, and is instead a very special stick. Players attach their phone to the end of it and smash it against trees and rocks to increase their mining resource potential exponentially. You can also use it to fish, though the video shows exactly how that would work out for most people.
More on Final Fantasy XIV Online GO can be seen through the website, but don’t expect to find a release date.

New storyline gives lapsed ‘Pokémon Go’ players a reason to reinstall

The  Pokémon Go craze has definitely fizzled out over the last year or so, with several key promised features still not released yet, but lapsed trainers now have a reason to reinstall the game again. This week, new “field research” quests add narrative to what has largely been a player-driven multiplayer experience thus far. “A series of mysterious happenings is occurring all over the world, and Professor Willow is seeking trainers to help him found out if this is connected to the mythical Pokémon Mew,” Niantic said in an update post . “These research tasks will become available to trailers around the world later this week!” There will be two different categories of research during the event: “Field research” and “special research.” The former type can be triggered by visiting Pokéstops, and will task trainers with completing raids or gym battles or catching a certain type of Pokémon. Special research missions are longer, with trainers having to complete several ...

Pokémon Sun and Moon - how and where to catch Tapu Koko, Tapu Lele, Tapu Bulu, Tapu Fini

The Guardian Tapu Pokémon are Sun and Moon's version of the typical sub-legendaries that have been a new-generation staple ever since the Legendary Dogs Suicune, Raichu and Entei, way back in gen two. They're some of the best Pokémon in the game, thanks to dedicated Z Moves, abilities, and excellent stats, and so well worth your time. Each Tapu acts as a guardian for it's own island - Tapu Koko for Melemele, Tapu Lele for Akala, Tapu Bulu for Ula'Ula , and Tapu Fini for Poni Island - and are all found in their island's corresponsing ruins: the Ruins of Conflict , Ruins of Life , Ruins of Abundance , and Ruins of Hope , respectively. A final warning, too: the Tapu are only catchable after you've completed the main storyline of Sun and Moon, and so major spoilers follow below. Check out our complete Pokémon Sun and Moon walkthrough if you're still trying to finish it! Where to find and how to catch Tapu Koko - the Ruins of Conflict Tapu Ko...

Curious announcement in Pokémon GO Live’s Newsletter – Event starting April 10?!

Trainers, in the past few hours, some trainers have reported receiving a very curious email Newsletter from Pokémon GO Live, and we have managed to put our hands on it (thanks to pokeRangerCam, one of our Discord members) The Newsletter covers a variety of topics ranging from the recent addition of Research, the Pokémon GO Earth Day Cleanup, April Community Day (our guide here ), Gym Leader Avatar clothing, to a spotlight on Nidos Pokémon GO Argentina . However, the curious announcement we are referring to consists of three very short lines at the very end of the Newsletter. The announcement goes as follows: Trainers, starting April 10, we’ll be hosting a special celebration in honor of the Kanto region in Pokémon GO! Keep your eyes on the official Pokémon GO website and social media channels for more information surrounding this event. As we all know, it doesn’t take much for the Pokémon GO community to speculate, but such a vague statement certainly allows peo...
