A New Pokemon Go Update is Coming, Is a New Event On the Way?
Pokemon Go has
announced the release of a new update, which probably will hit Android
and Apple Stores early next week. As with every release announcement,
the game's developers largely downplayed what the next update would
contain. Here's the confirmed list of changes, courtesy of the game's update notes:
Added Traditional Chinese language support.
Updated the Pokémon collection screen scroll bar.
Various bug fixes.
Minor text fixes.
While those updates sound pretty underwhelming, there are a few interesting tidbits. Right now, Pokemon Go isn't
available in China, so the addition of Chinese language support could
be a hint that the Chinese government has resolved whatever issues it
had with the game. The bug fixes could refer to recent issues involving
the game unexpectedly crashing or the recent issue with players
struggling to dodge during gym battle.
The timing of the update is also a bit curious, as we've speculated that an Easter-themed event could be on the way. The game developers usually push an update before a Pokemon Go event starts, so this could be a way to get new features into the game and then implement them for the event.

The Guardian Tapu Pokémon are Sun and Moon's version of the typical sub-legendaries that have been a new-generation staple ever since the Legendary Dogs Suicune, Raichu and Entei, way back in gen two.
