Curious announcement in Pokémon GO Live’s Newsletter – Event starting April 10?!

Trainers, in the past few hours, some trainers have reported receiving a very curious email Newsletter from Pokémon GO Live, and we have managed to put our hands on it (thanks to pokeRangerCam, one of our Discord members)
The Newsletter covers a variety of topics ranging from the recent addition of Research, the Pokémon GO Earth Day Cleanup, April Community Day (our guide here), Gym Leader Avatar clothing, to a spotlight on Nidos Pokémon GO Argentina.
However, the curious announcement we are referring to consists of three very short lines at the very end of the Newsletter. The announcement goes as follows:
Trainers, starting April 10, we’ll be hosting a special celebration in honor of the Kanto region in Pokémon GO! Keep your eyes on the official Pokémon GO website and social media channels for more information surrounding this event.
As we all know, it doesn’t take much for the Pokémon GO community to speculate, but such a vague statement certainly allows people to get creative. All we can make from that statement, is that the event would seemingly kick off on April 10, that it would somehow be related to the Kanto region (a.k.a. Gen 1), and that it should be officially announced prior to the start of the event.
Below are a few speculations that members of the Hub Team came up with about this curious event:
  • Starter takeover with shiny models (doubtful considering the recent release of Bulbasaur’s shiny model during the March Community Day);
  • Return of the Legendary Birds (and potentially their shiny models);
  • Gen 1 takeover with potential bonuses associated to them such as stardust, experience, or candies; (doubtful, as it would have to be a shorter event to feature a whole ‘takeover’, as near approaching April Community Day features a Johto Pokémon. It is plausible for bonuses applied to Gen 1 Pokémon to still happen without a full takeover.)
  • Gen 1 avatar outfits;
  • Migration of Gen 1 regionals.
What do you think will this curious event be about? Let us know in the comments or join the conversation on Discord here! The Hub team will be covering this event as soon as we know more, so stay tune!

For Your Pokémon GO Mew Hunt, Here's Which Gen 1-3 Pokémon Can Be Ditto Now

Niantic Pokemon GO While the first Mews are already being collected by die-hard Pokémon GO fans, for most of us, the journey is going to take quite a bit longer . While the first few steps of the Mew “Special Research” quest are pretty easy, eventually, you’ll start running into a few walls like having to evolve a Gyarados or land an excellent curve throw (skill dependent, of course). But one of the “gates” is mostly based on luck. Professor Willlow seems to think Mew is disguising itself as other Pokémon, so it wants you to catch a Pokémon who can also do that. And you guessed it, that’s Ditto. Ditto was one of the Gen 1 stragglers introduced late into the game because I’m pretty sure it took a while for Niantic to figure out how to code him. But now, three generations later, Ditto no longer just appears as random Pidgeys and Ratattas, but rather a whole host of Gen 1-3 Pokémon. I had no idea what the full list of curre...
