What Are the Strongest Grass Pokemon in Pokemon Go?

Players who pick a Grass-type Pokemon at the first partner tend to be at a bit of a disadvantage, as Grass-type Pokemon are tied for the most weaknesses of any Pokemon type. Many Pokemon also have resistances to Grass-type attacks, which also hurts their effectiveness in battle. However, Grass-type Pokemon do have a key advantage over Water-type Pokemon, which means they'll always have some use in Pokemon Go.
If you're curious as to which Grass-type Pokemon are the strongest in Pokemon Go, we've picked out what we feel are the five best Grass-type in the game. Each slide will also list that Pokemon's best moveset, based on "damage per second."

5) Meganium

meganium
Max CP: 2227

Best Moveset: Razor Leaf/Petal Blizzard
The only pure Grass-Type on our list, Meganium is the fully evolved form of the Johto starter Chikorita. Unfortunately, Meganium isn't very strong, with a CP well below those of every other Starter Pokemon in the game. Meganium does have an above average Defense stat, but its painfully weak Attack stat makes it almost entirely unusable for either attacking or defending gyms.

4) Victreebel

victreebel
Max CP: 2268

Best Moveset: Razor Leaf/Solar Beam
The first of three consecutive Grass/Poison dual-types on our list, Victreebel has a decent Stamina stat and a high Attack stat, which gives it some use as a gym attacker. Unfortunately, Victreebel's atrocious Defense stat and a poor moveset limits its overall usefulness. Victreebel can also be used to clear out Fairy Types if it has the all Poison moveset Acid/Sludge Bomb.

3) Vileplume

vileplume
Max CP: 2367
Best Moveset: Razor Leaf/Petal Blizzard
Vileplume has lower Attack and Stamina stats than Victreebel, but its considered a solid gym defender due to its moderately higher Defense stat. Vileplume can also use the best Grass moveset in Pokemon Go, which means that it's a great Pokemon to use when your local gym is infested with Vaporeon.

2) Venusaur

venusaur
Max CP: 2569

Best Moveset: Razor Leaf/Petal Blizzard
Venusaur is the tank of Grass-type Pokemon, with strong Attack, Defense, and Stamina stats. Venusaur's probably best used as a gym defender, although it can use the high damage Razor Leaf/Petal Blizzard moveset. Like Victreebel, Venusaur can also be used as a Fairy clearer if it has the Sludge Bomb charge move. If your local gym has a lot of Grass Pokemon that aren't Victreebel or Vileplume, you can also use a Sludge Bomb Venusaur to help push them out without losing too much HP.

1) Exeggutor

exeggutor
Max CP: 2916

Best Moveset: Extrasensory/Solar Beam
While Exeggutor doesn't look like a powerhouse, its high Attack and Stamina stats make it one of the most powerful Pokemon in Pokemon Go. Although Exeggutor's low defense prevents it from becoming a truly top tier gym defender, it can still absorb a lot of damage while bringing the hurt to your Pokemon. As a Grass/Psychic dual-type, Exeggutor is also surprisingly versatile, with several effective movesets. Solar Beam is Exeggutor's most powerful attack, but Psychic can also deal a lot of damage.

Nintendo's Failure To Give The Switch A Proper Pokémon Game Is Inexcusable

Nintendo/Paul Tassi The Dream Yesterday was a strange day for Nintendo fans who tuned into a new Pokémon Direct hoping for some relatively simple news: Pokémon is coming to the Nintendo Switch. Of course, technically, that did happen, but only in the form of Pokken Tournament getting ported over from the Wii U to the Switch in a new “Deluxe” package . But the fully-fledged Pokémon games featured in the show, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon and Gold and Silver for Virtual Console, were relegated to the 3DS. After the show, there was a brief flare-up of hope that due to a rogue listing, it appeared that Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon may get a Switch release after all, but The Pokémon Company quickly shut that rumor down , saying the listing was a mistake. Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are 3DS only, and there are no plans to bring them to the Switch. The two magic words everyone was looking for yesterday were “Pokémon Stars,” the long rumored, even offic...
