What Are the Strongest Psychic Pokemon in Pokemon Go?

Psychic-Type Pokemon were much more effective in the early days of Pokemon Go, before the game added several Dark-type Pokemon and moves during its big "Gen 2" update. Still, there are a handful of high CP Psychic-type Pokemon that are viable plays thanks to their strong offense.
If you're curious as to which Psychic-type Pokemon are the strongest in Pokemon Go, we've picked out what we feel are the five best Psychic-Types in the game. Each slide will also list that Pokemon's best moveset, based on "damage per second."

slowking
Max CP: 2482
Best Moveset: Confusion/Psychic
Slowbro and Slowking are a tie for fifth for one simple reason: they're basically identical in Pokemon Go. Both Pokemon have identical CP, Attack, Defense, and Stamina stats, and both have the same ideal moveset of Confusion and Psychic. Slowking has a marginally better potential moveset with Blizzard and Fire Blast compared to Slowbro's Ice Beam and Water Pulse, but otherwise there's no difference between the two Pokemon

4) Jynx

jynx
Max CP: 2512
Best Moveset: Confusion/Avalanche
Jynx, like most Psychic-Type Pokemon, has a strong Attack stat, but mediocre Defense and Stamina stats. While Jynx isn't the best option as a Psychic-type attacker, it can be used as an Ice-Type attacker if it has the Avalanche charge move. Jynx probably won't last long against the likes of Dragonite (which is really the only time you'd need an Ice-Type Pokemon), but it should be able to get off a shot or two to weaken it significantly.

3) Alakazam

alakazam
Max CP: 2887

Best Moveset: Confusion/Future Sight
Although Alakazam is only the third most powerful Psychic-Type Pokemon in terms of CP, it's arguably the best Psychic-Type attacker in the game. With an Attack stat of 271, Alakazam has the highest Attack stat of any Pokemon currently available in Pokemon Go. Alakazam also has the excellent ideal moveset of Confusion/Future Sight, which can dish out more damage than just about any other moveset. Sadly, Alakazam has a very low Stamnia stat, so don't expect it to be the best gym defender.

2) Exeggutor

exeggutor
Max CP: 2916

Best Moveset: Extrasensory/Solar Beam
With great Attack and Stamina stats, Exeggutor is a solid choice if you're looking for a top level gym defender. However, its usefulness as a Psychic-Type is rather limited. Exeggutor's potential Psychic-type moves are both lackluster, and it's more likely to learn Grass-Type moves than either of its Psychic-type attacks.

1) Espeon

espeon
Max CP: 3000
Best Moveset: Confusion/Future Sight
If you've been reading through our Pokemon Go rankings, it shouldn't come as a surprise that an Eeveelution is at the top of one of our type rankings. Espeon has one of the best Attack stats in the game, third only to Alakazam and Dragonite. It's also one of four Pokemon in the game that can learn Future Sight, which is the second strongest charge move in Pokemon Go. Espeon's only downside is a low stamina stat, so it shouldn't be impossible to beat it if you encounter it in a local gym.

New storyline gives lapsed ‘Pokémon Go’ players a reason to reinstall

The  Pokémon Go craze has definitely fizzled out over the last year or so, with several key promised features still not released yet, but lapsed trainers now have a reason to reinstall the game again. This week, new “field research” quests add narrative to what has largely been a player-driven multiplayer experience thus far. “A series of mysterious happenings is occurring all over the world, and Professor Willow is seeking trainers to help him found out if this is connected to the mythical Pokémon Mew,” Niantic said in an update post . “These research tasks will become available to trailers around the world later this week!” There will be two different categories of research during the event: “Field research” and “special research.” The former type can be triggered by visiting Pokéstops, and will task trainers with completing raids or gym battles or catching a certain type of Pokémon. Special research missions are longer, with trainers having to complete several ...

Pokémon Sun and Moon - how and where to catch Tapu Koko, Tapu Lele, Tapu Bulu, Tapu Fini

The Guardian Tapu Pokémon are Sun and Moon's version of the typical sub-legendaries that have been a new-generation staple ever since the Legendary Dogs Suicune, Raichu and Entei, way back in gen two. They're some of the best Pokémon in the game, thanks to dedicated Z Moves, abilities, and excellent stats, and so well worth your time. Each Tapu acts as a guardian for it's own island - Tapu Koko for Melemele, Tapu Lele for Akala, Tapu Bulu for Ula'Ula , and Tapu Fini for Poni Island - and are all found in their island's corresponsing ruins: the Ruins of Conflict , Ruins of Life , Ruins of Abundance , and Ruins of Hope , respectively. A final warning, too: the Tapu are only catchable after you've completed the main storyline of Sun and Moon, and so major spoilers follow below. Check out our complete Pokémon Sun and Moon walkthrough if you're still trying to finish it! Where to find and how to catch Tapu Koko - the Ruins of Conflict Tapu Ko...

Curious announcement in Pokémon GO Live’s Newsletter – Event starting April 10?!

Trainers, in the past few hours, some trainers have reported receiving a very curious email Newsletter from Pokémon GO Live, and we have managed to put our hands on it (thanks to pokeRangerCam, one of our Discord members) The Newsletter covers a variety of topics ranging from the recent addition of Research, the Pokémon GO Earth Day Cleanup, April Community Day (our guide here ), Gym Leader Avatar clothing, to a spotlight on Nidos Pokémon GO Argentina . However, the curious announcement we are referring to consists of three very short lines at the very end of the Newsletter. The announcement goes as follows: Trainers, starting April 10, we’ll be hosting a special celebration in honor of the Kanto region in Pokémon GO! Keep your eyes on the official Pokémon GO website and social media channels for more information surrounding this event. As we all know, it doesn’t take much for the Pokémon GO community to speculate, but such a vague statement certainly allows peo...
