Of course, it's entirely possible that Pokemon Go has more in store for us than a couple of minor updates. The game often sneaks in larger updates that aren't announced until the actual update goes live. As usual, we'll find out more about Pokemon Go's future once the game hits APK mirrors and is datamined by various Internet denizens.
Earlier this year, Pokemon Go promised four "major updates" to the game in 2017. The first of these was the addition of over 80 new Pokemon, all of which came from Pokemon Gold and Silver. The next update is widely expected to be an overhaul of the game's gym system, which many considered to be stagnant and plagued by spoofers. Even Niantic employees have publicly admitted the gym system needs work, which has been seen a hint that changes are coming.
We'll report more on the Pokemon Go update as information trickles in from the Internet.
