For Your Pokémon GO Mew Hunt, Here's Which Gen 1-3 Pokémon Can Be Ditto Now

Niantic Pokemon GO While the first Mews are already being collected by die-hard Pokémon GO fans, for most of us, the journey is going to take quite a bit longer . While the first few steps of the Mew “Special Research” quest are pretty easy, eventually, you’ll start running into a few walls like having to evolve a Gyarados or land an excellent curve throw (skill dependent, of course). But one of the “gates” is mostly based on luck. Professor Willlow seems to think Mew is disguising itself as other Pokémon, so it wants you to catch a Pokémon who can also do that. And you guessed it, that’s Ditto. Ditto was one of the Gen 1 stragglers introduced late into the game because I’m pretty sure it took a while for Niantic to figure out how to code him. But now, three generations later, Ditto no longer just appears as random Pidgeys and Ratattas, but rather a whole host of Gen 1-3 Pokémon. I had no idea what the full list of curre

Fortnite iOS Revenue Surpasses Clash of Clans, Pokemon Go, and Candy Crush Saga: Report

When Fortnite first hit iOS, there was a stringent invite requirement that made it tough to get into the game and play it, even though you could download Fortnite from the App Store. And it seems that removing the Fortnite iOS invite system has resulted in massive gains for developer Epic Games. According to a report from analytics firm Sensor Tower, Fortnite has earned more from in-app purchases than Clash of Clans, Candy Crush Saga, and Pokemon Go in the last seven days. Fortnite continues to find a place in the top 10 grossing list on iPhone in 23 countries. "Sensor Tower Store Intelligence data shows that lifting the invite requirement resulted in a 197 percent, or approximately three times increase in player expenditure on Monday, April 2, versus the $620,000 average across all previous days, totaling more than $1.8 million (nearly Rs. 11.70 crore) for the day," a post from the company reads . "Meanwhile, total worldwide mobile revenue for Fortnite

Pokémon gone: ‘Pokémon Go’ is ending support for iPhone 5 and 5C

Pokémon Go has been out in the wild for well over a year at this point, but if you’ve been catching creatures on an older device, you may have to upgrade if you want to continue playing. In an  update coming in February, support will be discontinued for both the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C. “In an upcoming update to Pokémon Go , we will end support for Apple devices not capable of upgrading to iOS 11, such as iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C models,” developer Niantic said in a blog post . “This change is a result of improvements to Pokémon Go that push the application beyond the capabilities of the operating systems on such devices.” The change will take effect on February 28, and it also includes iPad models released earlier than 2013, such as the fourth-generation iPad and the first-generation iPad mini. If you’ve been using one of these devices, you also won’t be able to access your PokéCoins or any items in your account. E

Niantic agrees to settle Pokémon GO Fest lawsuit

Last July, Niantic hosted a Pokémon GO Fest in Chicago’s Grant Park. The sold-out event was intended as a massive celebration of  Pokémon Go ‘s success. It did not go very well . Poor Wi-Fi connections rendered the game almost entirely unplayable, and Niantic was forced to issue full refunds. This left many fans out hundreds of dollars in travel and hotel expenses. In response, a group of frustrated players organized a class-action lawsuit seeking reimbursement for the costs incurred during the the trip to Go Fest. Today, TechCrunch reported that Niantic has agreed to settle the lawsuit ; the company will shell out $1,575,000 to reimburse attendees for parking, travel, hotel, and similar expenses accrued during the course of attending Pokémon Go Fest. Court documents say that the official website for the settlement should be online by May 25, 2018. Those who attended the event will also be getting a letter to inform them of the settlement and directing them to the w

New storyline gives lapsed ‘Pokémon Go’ players a reason to reinstall

The  Pokémon Go craze has definitely fizzled out over the last year or so, with several key promised features still not released yet, but lapsed trainers now have a reason to reinstall the game again. This week, new “field research” quests add narrative to what has largely been a player-driven multiplayer experience thus far. “A series of mysterious happenings is occurring all over the world, and Professor Willow is seeking trainers to help him found out if this is connected to the mythical Pokémon Mew,” Niantic said in an update post . “These research tasks will become available to trailers around the world later this week!” There will be two different categories of research during the event: “Field research” and “special research.” The former type can be triggered by visiting Pokéstops, and will task trainers with completing raids or gym battles or catching a certain type of Pokémon. Special research missions are longer, with trainers having to complete several tas

Pokemon Go rewarding players for litter picking on Earth Day

Pocket-lint Facebook Twitter Pintrest LinkedIn Google+ Mail 0 Comments 22 April is Earth Day - an annual event to celebrate and demonstrate support for the planet through environmental protection. Earth Day has been running since 1970 and this year Pokemon Go players are being encouraged to get involved.  Niantic , in collaboration with conservation organisation Mission Blue , is planning 37 clean-up events across 12 countries on 22 April. Pokemon Go players are being encouraged to join in with these events and help rid their local areas of litter. Most of the events are located on the coast and the obvious focus is on removing litter which might otherwise make its way into the oceans. Clean-up events will last for around two hours and will see players helping collect rubbish alongside local organisers. What are the in-game rewards? Niantic is trying to e

In honor of Pokémon Day, there are now apps for both Alexa and Assistant

It may not be Christmas yet, but it sure is Pokémon Day. And some tech companies are celebrating the arrival of the momentous occasion with about as much fanfare as we would expect for St. Nick, especially Amazon and Google. Both companies’ smart assistants now have Pikachu-themed apps available , because is it really a holiday if Alexa and Assistant aren’t involved? With Pikachu Talk , you can now ask Pikachu anything you would like via either of the company’s A.I.-powered helpers. Pokémon trainers can strike up a lively conversation with Pikachu, telling him about your day, complaining to him about the injustices of the world, and anything in between. Alas, Pikachu won’t exactly provide sound advice — all he’ll be able to say is something along the lines of “Pikaaaaa.” But what more could you really want? While most Alexa users will be able to access the skill regardless of location, it would appear that only Google Home owners within the United States will be able

‘Pokémon Go’ is gamifying garbage and wants your help on Earth Day

Pokémon Go may have just found a way to gamify garbage collection. In honor of Earth Day, which will be observed on April 22, Niantic, the developer behind the popular Pokémon game, has revealed that it is leveraging its impressive powers of assembly in order to help save the planet, one piece of litter at a time. Thanks to a series of partnerships with local non-governmental organizations across the world, Niantic will be able to get players to pick up trash. And the more people who engage in this altruistic behavior, the greater their potential in-game rewards. “All trainers will receive access to a special avatar item to celebrate Earth Day and those who work together to participate in the cleanups around the world will unlock unique in-game rewards for the entire world,” Niantic explained. “If 1,500 trainers attend the events around the world, 2x catch stardust for ground, water, and grass-type pokémon will be unlocked for 48 hours. If more than 3,000 trainers pa

Curious announcement in Pokémon GO Live’s Newsletter – Event starting April 10?!

Trainers, in the past few hours, some trainers have reported receiving a very curious email Newsletter from Pokémon GO Live, and we have managed to put our hands on it (thanks to pokeRangerCam, one of our Discord members) The Newsletter covers a variety of topics ranging from the recent addition of Research, the Pokémon GO Earth Day Cleanup, April Community Day (our guide here ), Gym Leader Avatar clothing, to a spotlight on Nidos Pokémon GO Argentina . However, the curious announcement we are referring to consists of three very short lines at the very end of the Newsletter. The announcement goes as follows: Trainers, starting April 10, we’ll be hosting a special celebration in honor of the Kanto region in Pokémon GO! Keep your eyes on the official Pokémon GO website and social media channels for more information surrounding this event. As we all know, it doesn’t take much for the Pokémon GO community to speculate, but such a vague statement certainly allows peo

What Is Happening With That Rumored 'Pokémon' Game For The Switch?

Credit: The Pokémon Company, Nintendo A new 'Pokémon' game for the Switch is looking increasingly likely. There have been some interesting developments regarding the rumored Pokémon game for the Switch that indicate we may have something more concrete announced soon. Back at the end of 2016, rumors leaked of a new Pokémon game called Pokémon Stars for the Switch. This was intended to be a combined version of Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon  but not much has been seen or heard about the game since. At the start of last year, GameStop then leaked the news that we would have a new Pokémon game for the Switch, though that many assumed that was just to do with Pokkén Tournament DX . However, late last year Tsunekazu Ishihara spoke with Bloomberg and dropped this quote: With the Switch, we see it as a chance to create Pokémon that goes deeper and with a higher level of expression. As a result, that makes it an extremel

Pokemon Go Fans Aren't Happy About the Newest Community Day

Pokemon Go fans aren't thrilled with next weekend's Community Day mini-event. Yesterday, Pokemon Go revealed that any Ampharos evolved during next weekend's Community Day event will learn the move Dragon Pulse, a move it can't usually learn during the game. This led to widespread complaints by many fans who already weren't happy that April's Community Day event would focus on Mareep, a sheep-like Pokemon with a largely underwhelming set of moves and stats. Community Day events are unique mini-events in which a specific Pokemon spawns in mass quantities for a three hour period. These Pokemon (or their evolutions) also know an exclusive move, which usually impact Pokemon Go 's metagame in some way. For instance, February's Community Day gave players a Dragonite with Draco Meteor, a powerful Dragon-Type attack. Last month's Community Day added the brand new move Frenzy Plant to Venusaur, making Venusaur one of the top Grass-Type attacke
